Creativity Takes Center Stage at IBIE 2025’s Pillsbury Bakers’ Plus Creative Cake Decorating Competition


LAS VEGAS (September 16, 2025) — Six teams of elite professional cake decorators showcased their imagination, artistry, and skill during the highly anticipated Pillsbury Bakers’ Plus Creative Cake Decorating Competition at the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE). The thrilling contest highlighted four categories — wedding cake, rolled fondant, sculpted cake, and buttercream — culminating in the announcement of this year’s winners on September 16.
The competition brought together some of the industry’s most talented cake decorators, competing head-to-head in a celebration of creativity and craftsmanship. Teams were challenged to create stunning, intricate designs across the four categories, pushing the boundaries of edible art and technical skill.
“As IBIE gathers the global baking industry, it provides a unique platform to celebrate the artistry and technical expertise of these elite decorators,” said Marissa Velie, executive director of the Retail Bakers of America. “It’s more than a contest — it’s an opportunity for them to showcase their talents in front of industry leaders, peers, and an enthusiastic live audience.”
2025 Creative Cake Decorating Competition Winners:
The competition will be evaluated by an esteemed international jury of renowned pastry experts:
- Overall Winners: Sabrina Sigouin (La Belle Patissiere) and Sandra Major (Le Sucre au Fou)
- Wedding Category: Aaron McInnis and Juanita Tobin (Happy Belly Cakery)
- Fondant Category: Jean Schapowal (Cakes w Character) and Jesse Lesser Cakes
- Sculpted Category: Sabrina Sigouin (La Belle Patissiere) and Sandra Major (Le Sucre au Fou)
- Buttercream Category: Carlos Mendez and Agnieszka (Agnes) Mendez (Cakes by Carlos)
